Hashimotos thyroiditis = hypo
Graves = what autoantibodies ?
Thyroid- stimulating autoantibodies (TSAb)
= bind to TSH receptor
TRH, TSH, T3 and T4 levels in graves
TRH and TSH low

thionamide drugs
e.g. carbimazole
blocks T4 synthesis
inhibits TPO catalysed iodination of thyroglobulin icl i forgot what that even is
more preffered treatment of graves
surgery
radioactive iodine
both lead to hypothyroidism so need replacement T4 tablets
hashimotos thyroiditis
autoantibodies will destroy thyroid tissue
endemic iodine deficiency
lack of iodine in diet
or
ingestion of goitrogens
why can lack of iodine in diet of mum be bad for baby
important in developing foetal tissues, mainly brain
