Q

what is osmosis

A

Osmosis is the movement of water molecules from an area where they are in high concentration to an area where they are in low concentration, across a partially permeable membrane.
In simpler terms, imagine water moving through a barrier that only lets water through (like a cell membrane) to balance out the concentration of water on each side. Osmosis is essential in living organisms because it helps cells maintain the right balance of water and nutrients. For example, plant roots use osmosis to absorb water from the soil, and your cells use it to keep hydrated.
