End Of Quarter#1 Flashcards
Cell division
The progress by which a cell divides into two new “daughter” cells.
Chromatids
One of the two identical “sisters” parts of a duplicate chromosomes.
Centromere
The area where the chromatids of a chromosome are attached interphase the life of a cell as one cell division after another separates by an in between period of growth
Cell cycle
The series of events that cells go through as they grow and divide
Mitosis
The division of cell nucleus
Prophase
The first and longest phase of mitosis.
Centriole
Two tiny structure located in the cytoplasm near the nuclear envelope.
Spindle
A fan-like micro-tube structure that help separate the chromosomes.
Metaphase
Second phase of mitosis, during which the chromosome line up across the center of the cell.
Anaphase
Third phase of mitosis, during which the chromosome pairs separate and move toward the opposite sides.
Telophase
Fourth and last phase of mitosis, during which the chromosome began to disperse into a tangle of dense material.
Cytokinins.
The division of the cytoplasm itself.
Cyclin
One of the family of closely relative protein that regularly the cell cycle in eukaryotic cells.
Cancer
Disorder in which some of the body owns cells lose the ability to control growth.
