What is an ‘Award’?
Legal documents that outline the rate of minimum wages and employment conditions, entitlements for the employee for every business (in Australia) are outlines on these documents - often called Modern Award. (Fair Work Act 2009)
What are some wet cooking methods?
Poaching, simmering, boiling, braising, stewing, pot roasting, steaming, and en papillote.
What are some dry cooking methods?
Grilling, broiling, stir-frying, pan frying, deep frying, baking, roasting, sautéing, and searing.
How to make butter?
Heavy cream and salt. Beat cream until it separates: butter and the buttermilk. Drain the milk out, wash the butter with water, and mix salt to taste.
What is the OH&S?
The OHS protects the health, safety, and welfare of employees and other people at work. The act was situated in 2004, acting as the current health and safety law: key principles, duties, and rights are outlined.
What is the OH&S Regulations 2007?
It is the OHS regulations built from the 2004 act. Where obligations and duties are explained: safe operations in major hazard facilities, removing asbestos, etc.
What to do in the kitchen to be safe?
- Tie up hair
- Wash hands (before and after) and (when handling different forms of produce: meat and vegetables)
- Wear apron
- Use different chopping boards for different forms of raw produce or foods: raw meat and vegetables
- Clean cutlery and immediately dry them
- Prevent or swiftly clean spills
- Don’t touch face or hair: unless you wash your hands immediately after
- Don’t cough onto any surfaces that can contaminate you or the food.
