What are Emotions
An increase or decrease in physiological activity that is accompanied by feelings. It is characterized by: Emotions, Behavior and Facial Expression.
Sympathetic Nervous System Activation
a component of an emotional response

3. Stimulates the adrenals to release hormones: cortisol
Parasympathetic system
After arousal, the system reduces activity and conserves restored energy.
Muscular Activation
It is involved in the external expression of emotions

Arousal and task complexity predict performance: High Arousal= best to complete simple tasks ( jumping)
Moderate Level= best for complex tasks ( taking a test, for focus)
Why have emotions
( manage approach and withdrawal behavior)
- Positive emotions: induce approach stimuli (cat)
- Negative emotions: induce withdrawal from or avoid stimuli (cat)
Non-Verbal communication
- quicker, most effective
