Visceral
adj. deep inward feelings rather than intellectual ones
• I have a visceral reason why I hate that person.
• Their arguments are merely visceral and not based on facts.
• It was afterwards found out that the reason she blamed the person is mainly visceral.
Elation
n. a feeling of great happiness and excitement
He feels an elation after knowing that he’ll get an increased salary.
Indignant
adj. feeling or showing anger when you think you were treated unfairly
He appears rather indignant when given a crass response.
Brood
v. to think deeply or worry about something, often in a moody or melancholic way
brood (over/on/about something)
- Don’t brood over it, I’ve always got your back, man.
- Every time he wakes up, he’d often brood over his future and life.
- After deciding that he’ll drop out, he’s begun brooding about it and eventually regrets his horrible decision.
Somber
adj. describes a situation, mood, or atmosphere that is sad, serious, and gloomy
- A somber meeting between the two families.
- He didn’t attend school because it was raining cats and dogs, which makes him somber.
- She’s in a somber mood today.
Adoration
n. a great feeling of love and respect
- After reading several of his books, he developed adoration for his works.
- He looked at her with pure adoration that she found amusing.
- Despite his impossible situation, he still wakes up with obvious adoration upon his face.
