Who was Emmett Till.
A
He was a black teenager from Chicago who, while visiting Mississippi was accused of flirting with a white woman at a grocery store.

What happened after the accusation?
A
The woman’s husband and half brother took Emmett from his home, beat, shot and strung barbed wire , weighed down by a fan, round his neck and dumped him in the river.

How do we know his death was significant to the civil rights movement?
A
A mainstream and popular Tv show was paused to announce the discovery of his body, the trial was international news and reporters crowded outside the coauthors embassy. Songs and poems were written about him.
