What is Pignoletto?
Prior to 2014, Pignoletto was a commonly accepted synonym for Grechetto in Emilia-Romagna, a grape popular in nearby Umbria. But with the creation of the Pignoletto DOC, Pignoletto, like Prosecco, became an appellation. Producers outside of the DOC/DOCG area are barred from using the name on varietal labels.
