What is Eustatic Sea Level change?
When ice and glaciers melt causing sealevels to rise
What does Isostatic mean?
Local related changes to the land after the ice age
Why is North West Scotland emerging?
After the ice age the ice melts and sealevels rise and the glaciers melt relieving pressure so the land rises.
What happened to Scotland during the ice age?
The land fell due to masses of glaciers and snow on top of the land.
What are relic features?
Geos, Blowholes, Arches, Platforms, Caves and Stacks
What does sea level change mean for the South of England?
It will become submerged.
What is a ria?
Drowned river valley, causing floodplain to vanish. The cross section of a ria looks similar to a normal river
What is a fjord?
flooded coastal glacial valley
Why do sealevels fall?
Falling temperatures cause water molecules to contract so water becomes denser.
What are raised beaches?
an area of shore platforms
What is a marine terrace?
A flat area larger than a raised beach with abandoned cliffs, stacks and notches behind it
