What is the drug plan for anaphylaxis treatment?

Intramuscular Adrenaline

What are the 11 steps in the management of anaphylaxis?
A
- Eliminate additional exposure to the allergen
- Give IM Adrenaline
- Call for help
- Place patient in a recumbent position with the lower limbs elevated and do not allow patient to stand quickly
- Give supplemental oxygen
- Administer IV fluid if hypotensive/ incomplete response to IM adrenaline
- Administer nebulised bronchodilators for lower respiratory obstruction and/or nebulised adrenaline for stridor
- Medications above may be repeated if there is inadequate response to therapy (5 minutes usually)
- Administer adjuvant therapy (antihistamine and corticosteroids)
- Admit subject with anaphylaxis for close observation for biphasic reaction (which resolves approximately 6 hrs)
- Initiate or review risk reduction strategies after recovery from acute response.
