Emergency Procedures Flashcards
Indication:
Batt Hot
Corrective Action:
Select Bat Off
Urgency:
LASAP!
Indication:
Batt Off
Corrective Action:
Check Batt switch position,
If batt switch on:
Urgency:
Land as soon as practicable
Engine Fire
Corrective action:
Enter autorotation & shut down engine
Urgency:
Land Immediately
Engine Oil Hot
Corrective Action:
Reduce Power, verify oil temp MFD
If verified:
Urgency:
LASAP
Engine Oil Pressure
Corrective Action:
Reduce Power, verify Oil Pressure on MFD,
If verified:
Urgency:
LASAP
Engine Out
Corrective Action:
Lower collective & enter autorotation
If time and altitude permit attempt a restart
Urgency:
Land Immediately
Rotor High
Corrective Action:
Increase collective pitch
Rotor Low
Corrective Action:
Reduce collective pitch
Rotor Brake On
In flight:
Check lever position.
If Off: Land Immediately
If On, set lever to Off and Land Immediately
On the ground:
If lever set to Off: Shut down engine
If lever set to On: Set to Off and shut down engine
XMSN Oil Hot
Corrective Action:
Verify xmsn oil temp MFD
Reduce power
If verified:
Urgency:
LASAP
XMSN Oil Pressure
Corrective Action:
Reduce power,
Verify XMSN pressure MFD,
If verified:
Urgency:
LASAP
Engine Fire During Flight
Corrective Action:
- Verify
- Enter autorotation
- Shutdown engine
- Execute Landing
- Egress
Smoke in cabin
Corrective Action:
Pull Vent knob ON
Turn Vent Switch ON
Open windows and vents
Urgency:
LASAP
Engine Failure IGE hover
Corrective Action:
Control yaw
Maintain collective pitch
Level skids
Cushion landing
Engine Failure OGE hover
Corrective Action:
Control Yaw
Lower collective
Establish 25deg nose down attitude to increase airspeed up to 80kts max
Land
Engine Failure Takeoff below 30kts
Control yaw
Maintain collective pitch
Level skids
Cushion landing
Engine Failure takeoff above 30kts
Control yaw Lower collective Pitch up to increase NR above 100% Reduce ROD with collective at end of flare Level skids Cushion landing
Engine Failure in Cruise
Corrective Action:
Control yaw Lower collective, control NR between 90-110% Pitch for airspeed 70-100kts Min rate of descent 80kts Max glide 110kts Perform autorotational landing
Engine Oil Pressure below Normal
Corrective Action:
If N1 above 72% and oil pressure between 40-80psi:
Maintain level attitude
Reduce power
Maintain 60-70kts level flight
When N1 stabilizes below 72%:
Check oil pressure, if stable between 40-80psi: continue flight LASAPractical
If below 40psi or dropping:
LASAP
T/R complete loss of thrust in hover
Chop throttle, cushion landing
Lightning Strike
Reduce airspeed to 80kts
Avoid abrupt or extreme maneuvering while in turbulence
LASAP
Intercom system failure
Corrective Action:
Select Back-Up, cabin ICS will be lost
If cockpit ICS not restored:
Select Emergency, hot mike lost use cyclic keys
What CAS warnings require Land Immediately
Eng Out
Eng Fire
Rotor Brake On
GIA Garmin Integrated Avionics
GIA1 and/or GIA2 failure
GIA1 Fail —Com/Nav 1 X’d out
FUEL DRAIN 1-2 message activated momentarily
Land as soon as practicable
GAI2 Fail—Com/Nav 2 X’d out
Failure of GIA2 confirmed by loss of ADF & DME
Land ASAP (rotor low horn inop)
GEA Garmin Engine Airframe unit 1/2 Failure
GEA 1 Fail —loss of ENG OIL PRESS, XMSN OIL TEMP, HYD 1 pressure
Land as soon as practicable
GEA 2 Fail— loss of ENG OIL Temp, Fuel pressure, HYD 2 Pressure, XMSN OIL PRESSURE
LAND ASAP (no xmsn pressure warning)
HYD Failure
Reduce airspeed below 90 kts, no abrupt maneuvers, land as soon as practical
SAS Failure
Reduce VNE by 30 kts, Maintain Rate of Climb below 750ft/min, Land as soon as practical
