Emergency Procedures Flashcards
If JFS is running and AMAD FIRE PUSH light flashes:
STARTER switch - OFF
When JFS is running and an emergency condition develops:
STARTER switch - OFF
If JFS does not shut down with STARTER switch:
AMAD FIRE PUSH light - PUSH
DISCHARGE switch - DISCHARGE
If JFS is running and AMAD FIRE PUSH light comes on steady:
AMAD FIRE PUSH light - PUSH
DISCHARGE switch - DISCHARGE
STARTER switch - OFF
If JFS does not shut down after actuating fire extinguisher:
Using short bursts, discharge halon into JFS inlet while facing aft. Do not start JFS.
If left/right engine is cranking and AMAD FIRE PUSH light flashes:
Throttle - OFF
L/R ENG MASTER - OFF
STARTER switch - OFF
If left/right engine is running and AMAD FIRE PUSH light and/or either ENGINE FIRE PUSH light flashes:
Throttle - OFF
L/R ENG MASTER - OFF
STARTER switch - OFF
If L/R engine is cranking and an emergency develops:
Throttle - OFF
L/R ENG MASTER - OFF
STARTER switch - OFF
For fire in engine compartment noted by ground observer or
steady red ENGINE FIRE PUSH light:
L/R ENGINE FIRE PUSH light-PUSH DISCHARGE switch - DISCHARGE Throttle - OFF L/R ENG MASTER - OFF STARTER switch - OFF
If left/right engine is running and AMAD FIRE PUSH light and/or either ENG FIRE PUSH light comes on steady:
AMAD FIRE PUSH / L/R ENGINE FIRE PUSH - PUSH DISCHARGE switch - DISCHARGE Throttle - OFF L/R ENG MASTER - OFF STARTER switch - OFF
Hot Start (JFS engaged):
Throttle - OFF
L/R ENG FIRE PUSH light - PUSH
Continue to motor engine with JFS until FTIT is 200 C or JFS engagement time reaches 150 seconds.
If unable to motor engine, be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before restart.
Hot Start (JFS disengaged):
Throttle - OFF L/R ENG FIRE PUSH light - PUSH L/R ENG MASTER - OFF -If STARTER-READY light is not on, do below: STARTER switch - ON @ N2 RPM is = 40% or less, JFS handle - PULL -If STARTER READY light is on, continue; L/R ENG MASTER - ON @ N2 RPM is = 30% or less, FINGER LIFT- LIFT Continue to motor engine with JFS until FTIT is 200 C or JFS engagement time reaches 150 seconds. If unable to motor engine, be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before restart.
Shutdown from operating at 700 C without a cool down period:
STARTER - ON @ N2 RPM is = 40% or less, JFS handle - PULL ENG MASTER - ON @ N2 RPM is = 30% or less, Finger lift - LIFT Dry motor engine with JFS until FTIT is 200 C or JFS engagement time reaches 150 seconds. If unable to motor engine, be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before restart.
Internal engine fire after shutdown:
Make Sure Throttles - OFF L/R ENG FIRE PUSH - PUSH L/R ENG MASTER switch -OFF STARTER switch - ON @ N2 RPM is = 40% or less, JFS handle - PULL L/R ENG MASTER - ON @ N2 RPM is = 30% or less, finger lift - LIFT Dry motor engine with JFS until fire is out or JFS engagement time reaches 150 seconds. If fire cannot be blown out, discharge halon into applicable exhaust/inlet
For no engine shutdown with throttle or auto acceleration:
Throttle - OFF L/R ENG FIRE PUSH light - PUSH L/R ENG MASTER switch - OFF -If STARTER READY light is not on, do below: STARTER switch - ON @ N2 RPM is =40% or less, JFS handle - PULL -If STARTER READY light is on, continue; L/R ENG MASTER switch - ON @ N2 RPM is = 30% or less, finger lift - LIFT Motor engine with JFS until FTIT is 200 C or JFS engagement time reaches 150 seconds. If unable to motor engine, be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before restart.
Overpressurization, smoke, or fumes in the cockpit:
EMERG VENT handle - TURN 45' CCW and PULL CABIN TEMP CONTR switch - OFF AIR SOURCE switch - OFF -- If cabin remains pressurized-- Throttles - OFF -Allow cabin to depressurize, CANOPY CONTROL handle - UP
If brakes or steering are lost during engine operation:
Brakes - continue to apply
Throttles - OFF
EMER BRAKE STEER handle -
PULL
If engine flames out:
Throttles - OFF
—–If FTIT remains above 500’ C—–
Motor engine with JFS until FTIT is 200 C or JFS engagement time reaches 150 seconds.
If unable to motor engine, be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before restart.
Engine stall or stagnation:
Snap throttle - IDLE
—-If engine stagnates—-
Throttle - OFF
–If FTIT remains above 500 C–
Motor engine with JFS until FTIT is 200 C or JFS engagement time reaches 150 seconds.
If unable to motor engine, be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before restart.
Recovery from a augmentor mislight or blowout:
Throttles - MIL
Stabilize at MIL for 30 seconds
Recovery from engine overtemp:
Throttles - IDLE (MIL if in AB) ----- If FTIT doesn't drop after snap to mil ----- Snap throttles - IDLE ---If FTIT still exceeds op limits--- Throttles - OFF ------If FTIT above 500 C------ Motor engine with JFS until FTIT is 200 C or JFS engagement time reaches 150 seconds. If unable to motor engine, be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before restart.
L/R GEN OUT light comes out while engine is running:
L/R GEN switch - cycle OFF to ON -------If light does no go out------- L/R GEN switch - OFF Throttle - OFF L/R ENG MASTER - OFF STARTER switch - OFF
“Emergency Egress” a.k.a. “Time To Get The Fuck Out”:
Throttle - OFF
STARTER switch - OFF
CANOPY CONTROL handle - UP
—–If canopy does not open—–
CANOPY EMERG JETT handle - press unlock button and PULL
Leave aircraft - the most rapid egress is made by hanging from the cockpit rail and dropping to the ground.
If L/R BLEED AIR LIGHT caution light comes on:
Throttle - OFF
L/R ENG MASTER - OFF
STARTER switch - OFF
If L/R engine is running at MAX power and either L/R BURN THRU light comes on:
Throttles - MIL ----- If L/R BURN THRU light does not go out ----- Throttle - OFF L/R ENG MASTER - OFF \::Note- If L/R engine is running at max, STARTER READY light will already be out/off.
Motor To Cool procedure:
Dry motor engine with JFS until FTIT is 200 C or JFS engagement time reaches 150 seconds.
If unable to motor engine, be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before restart.
