EMERGENCY PROCEDURES Flashcards
What is the proper glide speed when entering autorotation?
52kts
At what altitude should you initiate your flare from when ending your autorotation?
50ft AGL.
When terminating an autorotation, at what altitude should you pull collective pitch and apply forward cyclic?
10ft
What two conditions can cause the red (M/R XMSN TEMP/PRESS) light to come on during flight?
Transmission Oil Pressure drops below 2.5 psi or the temperature exceeds 235 degrees F.
What is the recommended response to the red (M/R XMSN TEMP/PRESS) warning light illuminating in flight?
Land as soon as possible.
What does the Amber Transmission Chip Detector caution light (M/R XMSN CHIPS) indicate?
There is possible deterioration of components within the main rotor transmission.
What is the recommended remedy when the Amber Chip Detector (M/R XMSN CHIPS) illuminates?
Land as soon as possible.
What can cause the amber tail rotor transmission chip detector (T/R XMSN CHIPS) light to illuminate?
Possible deterioration of components within the tail rotor transmission.
What is the recommended remedy when the Amber Tail Rotor Chip Detector (T/R XMSN CHIPS) illuminates?
Land as soon as possible.
How much usable fuel remains in the tank when the amber low fuel light illuminates?
1 Gallon ~ 5 minutes.
If the low fuel light illuminates, what should the pilot do?
Land immediately.
What does the red clutch warning light (RELEASE) mean?
Clutch is not fully engaged.
If the red clutch warning light illuminates in flight, what should the pilot do?
Be prepared for autorotation and land as soon as possible.
What should the pilot do if he experiences a complete loss of tail rotor in forward flight?
Reduce Power by lowering collective.
Adjust airspeed to 50-60 kts.
Use left lateral cyclic in combination with collective pitch to limit left side slip.
If possible twist throttle to idle position once landing area is selected and perform a normal autorotation.
Plan to land with little to know forward speed.
What is the emergency procedure for an electrical fire on the ground?
Pull mixture to idle cutoff. Pull Full valve. Turn battery switch off. Turn Alternator to off. Exit aircraft with fire extinguisher Extinguish fire.
