Engine Failure
On Runway
Reject Takeoff
Airborne - below minimum turning altitude
Land Straight Ahead
Airborne - above minimum turning altitude
1. Control - 65kts
Carb Heat
“Check Smoke, Oil, Fire”
2. Cause Check - Primer Locked
Master On
Mags on Both
Mixture as Required
Fuel on Both
3. Restart
4. Radio Call
5. Shutdown - Mags Off
Mixture Idle Cut Off
Fuel Off
Master as Required
6. Passenger Brief
Altitude will indicate priority of actions
Cabin Fire
- Master - Off
- Vents/Cabin Air/Heat - Closed
- Fire Extinguisher - Activate
- Cabin - Ventilate
- Land as Soon as Possible
Electrical Fire
- Master - Off
- All Switches - Off
- Vents/Cabin Air/Heat - Closed
- Fire Extinguisher - Activate
- Cabin - Ventilate
If able, continue NORDO to land as soon as possible.
If fire is out and electrical power is necessary for continuation of flight.
- Master - On
- Circuit Breakers - Check for Faulty Circuit
Do Not Reset - Radio/Electrical - Required Items only One at a time
Wing Fire
- Nav Light - Off
- Pilot Heat - Off
- Strobes - Off
- Sideslip - keep flames away from aircraft
Engine Fire
During Start Up
1. Cranking - Continue
If Engine Starts
2. Power - 1700RPM for one minute
3. Radio Call if Able
4. Shutdown
If Engine Fails to Start
2. Throttle - Full Open
3. Mixture - Idle Cut Off
4. Cranking - Continue
5. Radio Call if Able
6. Fire Extinguisher - Obtain
7. Engine - Secure
Master Off
Mags Off
Fuel Off
8. Aircraft - Evacuate
In Flight
1. Mixture - Idle Cut Off
2. Fuel Selector - Off
3. Master - Off
4. Cabin Air/Heat - Closed
5. Airspeed - 100kts
6. Forced Landing - Complete
