What is Abdominocentesis?
Large amounts of fluid (peritoneal effusion or blood) in the patients abdominal cavity
What is CVP and what does it stand for?
CVP (Central Venous Pressure) is the pressure in the right atrium and is used to assess cardiac preload and volume status. Is used to measure, monitor and guide fluid therapy
What are some clinical signs for Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS)?
- Hepatic Causes problems in the following systems: - Cardiovascular - Respiratory - Renal - CNS - GI - Endocrine
How can we check the CNS in a patient?
- Level of consciousness
- Pupillary reflexes
- Pupil sizes
- Position and movement of the eye
- Spinal cord compressions
What are the 2 stages of hypovolemic shock?
- Compensatory Hypovolemic Shock
- Decompensatory Hypovolemic Shock
What is Cheyne-Stokes?
Tachypnea interspersed with apnea
What is Paradoxical Respiration?
The abdomen moves inward during the inspiration
