what is the timescale for routine care

what advice can we give people to manage their dental pain
avoid stimuli which worsen this
hold cooled water or crushed ice around tooth
try lying propped up
use painkillers which work for you
avoid aspirin if there is bleeding
what is the recommended dose for ibuprofen
1 x 400mg (2x 200mg) tablet 4-6 hourly
what is the recommended dose for paracetamol
2 x 500mg tablets 4-6 hourly
what is the ibuprofen max dose
6 x 400mg (2400mg) in a 24hr period
what is the paracetamol max dose
8 x 500mg (4000mg) in a 24hr period
what do you ask if a patient says they have broken/fractured teeth
are they sensitive to heat or cold - work out if dentine is exposed
what do you do if a patient says they have avulsed permanent teeth
advise patient to handle by crown only and store in milk
what do you do if a patient has an avulsed primary tooth
do not replant and arrange an urgent appointment
