Emergencies Flashcards
EXCESSIVE ELECTRICAL LOAD
(high reading on Ammeter or smoke/fumes)
Unusable fuel 151 lbs after battery depleted due to inability to transfer fuel from the fwd cell
With batt & gen OFF, 80% charged 17 amp batt will ops LH boost/LH xfr pump for 1.7 hrs (28v for 2.8 hrs)
When throttle repositioned to idle stop during engine shutdown, PMA will go offline, engine may flameout
Pedal stop disengages with loss of electrical power
GEN OFF BATT OFF LH BOOST/XFR ON DESCEND BELOW 8000’ pA (Jet A) or 4000 pA (Jet B) VNE 60 KIAS LAND ASAPL
ENGINE UNDERSPEED
decreasing Ng, Np, Nr, & Tq
Collective - maintain NR 85-107%
CONFIRM THROTTLE IN FLY DETENT
THROTTLE TO MATCH BEZEL WITH NG GUAGE INDICATION
FADEC SWITCH MANUAL
CONTROL NR/NP 95-100% with throttle & collective
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL
COMPRESSOR STALL
engine pops, high/erratic MGT, dec/erratic Ng or Np, Tq oscillations
REDUCE COLLECTIVE to maintain slow cruise flight CHECK MGT & NG for normal indications ANTI ICE & PART SEP & HEATER ON if pilot elects to continue INCREASE COLLECTIVE SLOWLY TO DESIRED POWER LEVEL MONITOR MGT & NG LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL If pilot elects shutdown ENTER AUTOROTATION THROTTLE CLOSED FUEL VALVE OFF COLLECTIVE TO MAINTAIN 85-107% Nr CYCLIC TO MAINTAIN 55-80 KTS prepare for POWER OFF LANDING
HOT START
excessive MGT, visible smoke or fire
THROTTLE CLOSED FUEL VALVE OFF starter will remain engaged til MGT < 150C MOTOR STARTER SHUTDOWN
ENGINE OIL PRES LOW
eng oil press below min
MONITOR ENG OIL PRESSURE & TEMP
LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
EOP HIGH/FLUCTUATING
eng oil press above max or fluctuating abnormally
MONITOR ENG OIL PRESSURE & TEMP
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL
ENGINE OIL TEMP HIGH
eng oil temp increasing above normal or above max
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL
DRIVE SHAFT FAILURE
LOW RPM WITH OVERSPEED
(left yaw, rapid dec Nr, rapid inc Np, Low RPM audio, RPM light)
(inc noise level due to overspeeding engine)
(eng overspeed trip activates at 118.5 Np – FADEC then maintains 100% Np)
(VNE AUTO 100 KIAS MIN R OF D 55 KIAS MAX GLIDE 80 KIAS)
ENTER AUTOROTATION MAINTAIN HEADING AND ATTITUDE CONTROL COLLECTIVE TO maintain 85-107% NR CYCLIC TO maintain 55-80 KIAS DO NOT SHUTDOWN ENGINE TO MAINTAIN T/R Autorotative landing then shutdown
ENGINE REMAINS AT 100% FLIGHT IDLE
THROTTLE TO FLIGHT DETENT
2 MINUTE COOL DOWN AT FLAT PITCH
CLOSE THROTTLE
ENGINE FIRE ON GROUND
smoke, fumes, fire
THROTTLE CLOSED FUEL VALVE OFF GEN OFF BATT OFF ROTOR BRAKE ENGAGE

ELECTRICAL FIRE
(smoke, fumes, or fire, possible abnormal amps)
If both xfr pumps fail, unusable fuel 151 pounds due to inability to transfer from fwd cell
Fuel will stop xfr at 345 lbs total fuel indicated
With battery and generator OFF, an 80% charged battery will operate left fuel boost pump and left fuel transfer pump for approximately 1.7 hours (2.8 hours with optional 28 amp-hour battery)
VENTS/WINDOWS OPEN BEGIN DESCENT MAINTAIN SAFE FLIGHT CONDITION LAND ASAP SOURCE IDENTIFIED ISOLATE SOURCE VIA SWITCH/CB SOURCE NOT IDENTIFIED GEN OFF LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL

VNE 60 Kts
BATT OFF
LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
ACTUATOR HARD OVER
(any flt control axis)
(un-commanded movements of one or two flight controls which cannot be trimmed to zero without turning HDY switch off - High flight control forces to oppose movement in one axis, feedback forces only in affected flight control, flight control forces normal in unaffected axis)
MAINTIAN ATTITUDE HDY SWITCH OFF AIRSPEED 70-100 KIAS LAND ASAP RUN ON LANDING 15 kts
CYCLIC CAM JAM (fore/aft axis)
cyclic fore/aft movement requiring a higher than normal force to override a spring capsule
high (15 lb) fore/aft cyclic control forces
normal pedal, collective, and lateral cyclic control forces
MAINTIAN ATTITUDE
HDY SWITCH ON
