on when ops in FADEC Manual Mode with NG above 55%
on when FADEC detects an engine out condition with NG above 50%
Start

overtemp has been detected by temp probe under pilot seat, co-pilot seat, or in vertical tunnel
TURN HEATER SWITCH OFF IMMEDIATELY
Pedal Stop
PULL EMERGENCY RELEASE
Vne 60KTS.
Gen Fail (gen not connected to DC bus (ammeter = 0, voltmeter = 24v, gen fail light)
With GEN off, fully charged 17 amp batt gives 21 min for heli + 1 VHF radio
With GEN off, fully charged 28 amp batt gives 35 min for heli + 1 VHF radio
CHECK GEN FIELD & GEN RESET CB’S IN GEN RESET then GEN if power not restored- GEN OFF DESCEND BELOW 8000 FEET LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL
Check Instr
TQ,MGT, or NG is about to or has detected an exceedance
LCD trend arc & digital display flashing indicates an impending exceedance
LETTER E in digital display indicates an exceedance has occurred
REDUCE ENGINE POWER
PRESS INST CHECK BUTTON TO DISPLAY MAGNITUDE OF EXCEEDANCE
REFER TO BHT-407-MD-1
Battery Relay
relay has failed to closed position with Batt SW off - Battery still connected to the DC BUS
if BATTERY HOT light illuminates
GEN OFF
LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Battery HOT
battery is overheating
BATTERY SWITCH OFF LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL if BATTERY RELAY illuminates GEN OFF LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Cyclic Centering (cyclic stick not centered)
REPOSITION CYCLIC STICK TO CENTER TO EXTINQUISH LIGHT
ENG OUT in Hover left yaw, audio when NG LESS THAN 55%, RPM rotor rpm decreasing, RPM light & Low Rotor Horn when Nr < 95% engine instruments indicate power loss
CONTROL HEADING AND ATITUDE ADJUST COLLECTIVE TO CONTROL NR AND RATE OF DESCENT INCREASE COLLECTIVE TO CUSHION LANDING - forward speed will aid in cushioning landing LAND & SHUT DOWN HELICOPTER
ENG OUT in Flight
(mtn NR at high end for max rotor energy but causes high r of d)
VNE AUTO – 100 KIAS
MIN R OF D – 55 KIAS
MAX GLIDE – 80 KIAS
MAINTAIN HEADING & ATITUDE CONTROL
COLLECTIVE TO mtn 85-107% NR
CYCLIC TO maintain 55-80 KIAS
ATTEMPT RESTART (if alt remains) FUEL VALVE OFF at low altitude THROTTLE CLOSE COLLECTIVE TO FLARE REDUCING FWD SPEED & CUSHION LDG on ground, REDUCE COLLECTIVE SMOOTHLY MAINTAIN CYCLIC IN NEUTRAL/CENTERED POSITION SHUTDOWN
ENG Overspeed (increasing Nr, Np, Ng, Tq)
on when NG > 110% or if NP vs TQ is > max cont limit
REDUCE THROTTLE THROTTLE/COLLECTIVE TO STABILIZE NR/NP FADEC SWITCH MANUAL MAINTAIN NR/NP 95-100% if unable to maintain Nr, Np, Ng, or MGT ENTER AUTOROTATION THROTTLE CLOSED FUEL VALVE OFF
RPM - LOW ROTOR RPM < 95%
(with audio)
Light will extinguish & audio cease when NR increases > 95%
REDUCE COLLECTIVE
CHECK THROTTLE FULL OPEN
RPM - HIGH ROTOR RPM > 107% NR (without audio)
Light will extinguish when NR < 107%
INCREASE COLLECTIVE
REDUCE SEVERITY OF MANEUVER
FADEC FAIL ON START
serious malfunction detected
(takeoff power may not be available in manual mode)
CLOSE THROTTLE IMMEDIATELY
ENGAGE STARTER TO REDUCE MGT
Maintenance action required before next flight
FADEC FAIL IN FLIGHT
Along with FADEC FAIL audio, may result in an engine underspeed followed by an overspeed.
The FADEC MANUAL and MAN portion of the FADEC mode switch ARE ILLUMINATED WITHIN 2-7 seconds after FADEC fail warning
NR & NP may increase rapidly requiring positive movements of collective & throttle to control NR
MATCH THROTTLE BEZEL POSITON TO NG INDICATION
MAINTAIN 95-100% NR/NP WITH COLLECTIVE & THROTTLE
PRESS FADEC MODE SWITCH ONE TIME TO MUTE AUDIO WARNING (when in manual control)
LAND ASAPL, NORMAL SHUTDOWN
CAUTION: AFTER LANDING, ROLL THROTTLE FIRST THEN LOWER COLLECTIVE
FADEC DEGRADED in flight
ECU operation is degraded, may result in NR droop, NR lag, or reduced max power capability
REMAIN IN AUTO MODE
FLY SMOOTHLY & NON AGGRESSIVELY
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL
FADEC DEGRADED with engine shut down
(indicates a recorded fault which has cleared itself during the previous flight or a current maintenance fault has been detected)
THROTTLE TO IDLE
if light extinguishes, fault is from previous flight
maintenance action is required prior to next flight
FADEC FAULT (PMA, MGT, NP, NG auto limiting circuits not functional)
REMAIN IN AUTO MODE
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL
maintenance action is required prior to next flight
FADEC MANUAL (FADEC operating in manual mode – no auto governing available AUTO RELIGHT (auto relight will also be illuminated)
FLY SMOOTHLY & NON AGRESSIVELY
MAINTAIN 95% NR TO 100% NR with throttle/collective movements
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL
RESTART FAULT
FADEC ECU has detected a fault which will not allow engine re-start in Auto mode
NO ACTION REQUIRED
maintenance action is required prior to next flight
IF COMBINED WITH FADEC DEGRADED, FADEC ECU has detected a mis-positioned metering valve for start
DO NOT ATTEMPT START – refer to Operation & Maintenance manual
FUEL FILTER (impending a/f fuel filter bypass)
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL
CLEAN PRIOR TO NEXT FLIGHT
