18
Q

OIL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS

A

Rising Oil Pressure
- Divert or perform a precautionary landing

Rising oil temperature and dropping oil pressure
1. THROTTLE LEVER…… IDLE
2. OIL TEMP…… CHECK within limits
3. OIL PRESS…… CHECK
If oil pressure does not increase and temperature remains within limits:
4. OIL AND CT…… CHECK
5. Land as soon as practical
If oil pressure does not increase and temperature exceeds limits

5. Land as soon as possible

Zero Oil Pressure:
- SECURE ENGINE and FORCED LANDING

19
Q

FLAP FAILURE

A

Final speed… 75 KIAS
Vth… 70 KIAS

Be aware of increased landing distance

Consider straight-in approach

20
Q

STUCK CONTROLS

A

Control attitude… With power, Trim and Configuration
Perform straight-in approach and allow for much increased landing distance

In case of a stuck rudder or aileron, these may to some degree substitute each other.
The most critical loss will be the rudder. Allow for much increased turning radius.

Consider straight-in approach

21
Q

TRIM RUNAWAY

A

PITCH TRIM Switch… DISC
Do not turn the switch back to ON!
Consider a flapless landing and straight-in approach

22
Q

COMMUNICATION FAILURE: VFR

A

Check… COM panel set-up
Check… RX/TX is seen beside the selected frequency.

Transmit blind

Maintain VMC

Look for light signals

23
Q

PROPELLER OVERSPEED

A

THROTTLE LEVER… REDUCE
PROPELLER LEVER… REDUCE
AIRSPEED… REDUCE

CAUTION: Use power with care. An overspeed may cause engine components damage.

24
Q

Aircraft Evacuation

A
  1. Parking brakes… LOCK
  2. Seat Belts… UNSTRAP
  3. Headphones… REMOVE
  4. Canopy… OPEN
  5. Master switch… OFF
  6. Escape away from flames/hot engine compartment/spilling fuel
    tanks/hot brakes
25
Q

Engine Securing

A
  1. Throttle Lever… IDLE
  2. Lane A & B Switches… OFF
  3. Main Fuel Pump & Fuel Pump Switches… OFF
  4. Fuel Selector valve… OFF
26
Q

Land as soon as possible

A

Land at the nearest suitable airfield where a safe landing can be made.

27
Q

Land as soon as practical

A

Extended flight is not
recommended.
Consideration to mission interruption should be given;
landing site and duration of flight are at the discretion of the pilot in command.
