Cinicinnati stroke scale
Facial droop: have patient show teeth or smile
Arm drift: patient closes eyes and holds arms straight out for 10 sec
Abnormal speech: Have patient say, “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”
You cannot assume a person is dead unless one of these conditions exist

Patient Assessment sequence
1) scene size up
2) primary assessment
3) history taking
4) secondary/ physical assessment
5) Reassessment/ monitor patient
Steps for Seizures
1) clear the area
2) makes sure nothin in their mouth
3) Do not restrain
4) Place on side
5) Post ictal phase
Signs of Heat Exhaustion
Sweating profusely, light headed, Dizziness + nauseated, weak pulse, skin is cool + clammy
Treatment for heat exhaustion
Move to cooler location, remove shirt, give fluids
Signs of Heat Stroke
True emergency, hot environment that overwhelms the body’s ability to sweat, body temp rises, flushed dry skin, semi unconscious or unconscious
Treatment for heat stroke
Removes patients clothes, maintain ABC’s , Ice packs, this is a rapid transport
Frostbite
Body part freezes, skin white + waxy. DO NOT RUB FROSTBITTEN AREA, body temp subnormal
Hypothermia
Lack of coordination, mental confusion, slowed reactions, remove clothes if wet, always need an exam by MD
Stroke

Effects of stroke
- seizures, bad headache
- facial droop
- paralysis
Insulin Shock
Aka low blood sugar, skin pale + moist, pulse becomes rapid, dizzy, nauseated headache, may appear drunk, can be confused or unconscious
Diabetic Coma
Too much sugar not enough insulin, skin is warm + dry, have rapid pulse + deep breathing
Ways that poison can be taken
- ingestion= mouth
- inhalation= mouth + nose respiratory system
- injection= hole in skin/circulatory
- absorption=intact skin/circulatory
