Embeyology: Outflow Tract Septation Flashcards
Aorticopulmonary septum
Formed by the fusion of the right superior and left inferior cushions
Divides the truncus into aortic and pulmonary channels
Opposing ridges in the truncus Week 5: location and growth
Cushion on right superior wall grow distally and to the left
Cushions on the left inferior wall grow distally and to the right
Both grow toward aortic sac, twist around each other, and fuse
Division of the conus into the anterolateral (RV outflow) and posteriomedial (LV outflow) portions
Cushions on the right dorsal and left ventral walls of conus cordis grow towards each other and distally the. Unite within the truncus septum
Day 29: Partioning of the outflow tract into:
Truncus arteriosus: aorta
Conus cordis: pulmonary artery
AV valve formation
Each AV orifice is surrounded by Local proliferations of mesenchymal tissue
Blood hollows out and things the tissue on the ventricular surface
Valves form (remain attached to ventricular wall)
Semilunar valves: location and formation
Small tubercles found on main truncus swellings
Tubercles hollow out on upper surface
Day 55
Valves are fully developed
