What is a summary offence?
A
These are the least serious. Always heard in magistrates. (E.g. assault/battery, criminal damage less than £5000)

What is a triable either way offence?
A
They’re ‘middle range’ offences. Can be tried in either a magistrates or a crown court. (E.g. assault occasioning ABH)

What are indictable offences?
A
Most serious. Manslaughter,murder and rape. Tried in the crown court with a judge and jury.
