elite athletes

what factors make an elite athlete?

A

fitness - different sports have different fitness demands. High levels of speed and power are required to be an elite net baller.

genetics - factors such as height and percentage of fast-twitch fibres are out of the control of the athlete. Defenders and shooters are particularly tall in netball.

psychological factors - factors such as the motivation to train, concentration, determination and competitive spirit will all influence results.

skill acquisition - the ability to learn and refine skills varies. Some are quick learners, others are not. Strong ball skills are essential in netball.
