To play sports at a Division I or II school, you must
graduate from high school, complete 16 NCAA-approved core courses, earn a minimum GPA and earn an ACT or SAT score that matches your core-course GPA.
You must successfully complete at least 16 NCAA-approved core courses in the following areas
- English - 4 years
- Mathematics - (Three years of mathematics courses at the level of Algebra I or higher) - 3 years
- Natural or physical science (including at least one laboratory course if offered by the high school) - 2 years
- Additional courses in English, mathematics, or natural or physical science - 1 year
- Social science - 2 years
- Additional academic courses [in any of the above areas or foreign language, philosophy or nondoctrinal religion (e.g., comparative religion) courses] – 4 years
You may practice, compete and receive an athletics scholarship during your first year of full-time enrollment at an NCAA Division I school.

You may receive an athletics scholarship during your first year of full-time enrollment and may practice during your first regular academic term but may NOT compete during your first year of enrollment. You must pass nine semester hours to practice in the next term.

You will not be able to practice, compete or receive an athletics scholarship during your first year of enrollment at a Division I school.

To be eligible to participate in practice and competition, a student-athlete shall be
enrolled in a minimum full-time program of studies leading to a baccalaureate or equivalent degree as defined by the regulations of the certifying institution.
All students must pass at least 6 hours of credit during the current term in order to be eligible for the next academic term
6 credit hour rule
Must pass 9 hours of credit for the fall semester, and otherwise be eligible. If not, must sit out four games; however, student can remediate by passing 27 credit hours prior to the next fall (this will include credits from the fall, spring, and summer)
Football (Fall Only rule)
All students must pass at least 18 credits for the academic year (Fall, Winter Intersession, & Spring only) to be eligible the following fall. If a student does not meet the 18-hour rule after a term, then he/she will be rechecked for it after the next academic term. Baseball is the only exception. The “Winter” intersession term can be counted toward 18; however, not toward the 6-credit hour rule

Baseball student-athletes must be eligible, academically, entering the fall semester of an academic year to be eligible for
the spring
If a student is not eligible due to not meeting one or more academic eligibility rules at start of fall, he is
ineligible to compete for the entire academic year
Any continuing student must pass at least 24 credits before the beginning of their 2nd year or 3rd semester of full-time enrollment.
