Texture

A

The surface of things have a texture, whether it is paper, sandpaper, cloth etc.

Simulated texture:
A painting may simulate texture by using colour and shading (value) to make surfaces SEEM textures

Space

A

Real space is 3D, but… it also refers to the illusion of depth or space in a painting or drawing which is on a flat surface
Artist use perspective to show depth or space in a painting. If 2 objects overlap on a flat surface, one is clearly behind the other
Painter use areal perspective to show depth, which is the change form dark in the front to light in the back. And the brighter colours are in the front, while faded ones ore in the back
