tone is used to describe form but can also be used for emotional or dramatic impact.

we need light, so that we can distinguish between different objects.

impasto is a method used by an artist, where they apply thick paint onto the canvas using a pallet knife.

means “rubbing” in french. the technique is created by placing your work on an object with a desired texture and literally texture on
shape
a shape that is 2D or flat.

geometric/ organic
complete/ incomplete
figurative/ non-figurative
shapes can:
be negative or
be positive
form
a 3-dimensional shape.
we use tonal value, overlapping of shape and prospective to create 3-dimensionality in artwork
