Since it is element, only calcium atoms
What do all noble gases exist as?
Single atoms
What are molecules?
Small groups of atoms held together by chemical bonds
What do chemical bonds do?
Bind atoms within molecules together, not whole molecules together
What are lattices?
Large numbers of atoms held closely together in continuos frameworks
Are all atoms joined together by chemical bonds?
No
What are atoms?
The smallest part of an element that cannot be divided
What do all elements have?
Unique properties which determine how they look or behave
What are elements usually divided into?
Metals and non-metals
What are most metal elements at room temperature?
Solids, except for mercury which is a liquid
What are typical features of metals?
Shiny, glossy, conduct electricity, can be flattened into sheets and be stretched into threads or wires
