Classes of amplifiers
A

2
Q
Class A amplifier
A
good fidelity, low efficiency
The best amplifier to use for the “truest” amplification
only about 20% of power consumed is used to amplify, the other 80 is wasted
used for radio, radar and sound systems
3
Q
Class B amplifier
A
twice as efficient as class a
only amplifies half the waveform (positive or negative)
used for audio amplification that requires high outputs
4
Q
Class C amplifier
A
operates on less that 50% of the waveform
is the most efficient, however is the worst fidelity
used as radio frequency amplifiers
