Electromagnetism Flashcards
The motor effect
When a current carrying wire is put between magnetic poles the two Magnetic Fields interact with each other the result is a force on The Wire
Electric motor
Four factors of which speed it up more current more turns on the coil stronger magnetic field a soft iron core
Coil is on a spindle and forces act 1 up 1 down so it rotates
Split ring commutator is needed to swap the contact every half term to keep the motor rotating in the same direction
Loudspeaker
AC electrical signals from amplifier fed into the coil of wire in speaker which is wrapped around base of cone
Coil surrounded by permanent magnet signals due to the interaction of the two Magnetic Fields causes a force moves back and forth
Movements make phone vibrate creates sound
