Electromagnetism Flashcards
What is electric charge
Electric charge is an abstract concept because it’s invisible to us
What are the immutable property of fundamental particles
- Mass
- Spin
- Electric charge
Electric charge is everywhere, yet we rarely notice electric forces between everyday objects. Why might this be?
In most of the objects, there are almost the same number of protons and electrons
Most matter is neutral — it has no excess electric charge
What is a field
It is a mathematical object describing some property (e.g a number denoting temperature)of every point in a space.
Fields are essentially functions — their domain is all of space (or some particular part of it, like the surface of Earth).
Formula for force due to two electric charge
F =(k * Q1 * Q2) / r^2
k: constant
Q: Charge
r: distance between two charges
Formula for force due to electric field
F = q * E
q: charge which experience force
E: electric field
Formula of electric field created due the charged plate
E = 2 * pi * k * Q / A
Q: Electric charge
A: Area of plate
