Radio waves, microwaves, infrared radiation, visible light, ultraviolet, x-rays, gamma rays.

-long distance transmissions -walkie talkies -broadcasting transmissions

No dangers known
What are the uses of microwaves?
-to warm or cook food -communication -satellite -mobile phones.
What are the dangers of microwaves?
Heating bodily tissues = exploding
What are the uses of infra red radiation?
-very short wave signals - TV remote -heating houses -night vision goggles.
What are the dangers of infrared radiation?
Burns, loss of eyesight
What are the uses of visible light?
- seeing things -photography
What are the uses of x-rays?
-medical imaging/bones -CTscan -industry ,check for cracks in pipes -security in airports
What are the uses of Gamma rays?
-radiotherapy -sterilising equipment
What are the dangers of visible light?
High intensity -eyesight problems
What are the dangers of Ultra violet?
Skin cancer
What are the uses of ultraviolet?
-criminology fluorescence -tanning beds -cleaning (kills bacteria with high intensity)
