Q

What is electromagnetic induction/the generator effect?

A

a potential current/voltage is needed to make an electric current flow in a circuit:

  • a coil of wire is moved in a magnetic field
  • a magnet is moved into a coil of wire

Q

Why is the reason the generator effect works?

A
  • only works if there is relative motion

- this is because the field lines to cut through the wire

Q

How can you reverse the direction of the induced current?

A
  • the magnet moves in the opposite direction

- the opposite pole is inserted first

Q

How can the size of the induced current/potential difference increase?

A
  • increase speed of movement
  • increase the magnet strength(flux density)
  • increase the number of turns on the coil
