Hypokalemia S/S
A
Vitals: decreased blood pressure, thready weak pulse,ortho. hypotension
Neuro: Alt. Mental state, anxiety, confusion, coma
ECG: Flattened T wave, ST depression, prolonged PR interval
RESP: shallow breathing
<3.5mEq/L. “low and slow”

Hyperkalemia S/S
A
Vitals: slow irregular pulse,hypotension
ECG: Premature ventricle contractions, v-Fib, peaked T-waves, widend QRS complex
GI: hyperactive bowel sounds
>5.0mEq/L “tight and contracted”
burns, renal failure,diuretics, ACE inhibitors, NSAIDS, acidosis, tissue damage
