Electrocardiogram (ECG) & Heart Conditions Flashcards
What does the P Wave represent?
Represents atrial depolarisation (contraction of atria).
What does the QRS Complex represent?
Represents ventricular depolarisation (contraction of ventricles).
What does the T Wave represent?
Represents ventricular repolarisation (recovery phase).
What is the U Wave?
A small wave sometimes seen after the T wave, of unclear significance.
What is an Electrocardiogram (ECG)?
A recording of the electrical activity of the heart.
What is Tachycardia?
A fast heart rate (>100 bpm).
What is Bradycardia?
A slow heart rate (<60 bpm).
What is an Ectopic Heartbeat?
An extra, abnormal heartbeat.
What is Fibrillation?
Uncoordinated heart contractions, leading to ineffective pumping.
