Electro conduction of the Heart Flashcards
Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG)
uses electrodes to record events in the cardiac cycle
Large action potentials in the heart cause electrical current to flow outward to all part of the body
electrodes register the voltage difference at different times
QRS complex
Ventricle depolarization
Sinoatrial node SA
collection of specialized cells.
resting membrane potential less negative and unstable so that cells gradually reach threshold.
ion channels in pacemaker cells are different from other cardiac cells
P wave
Represents atrial depolarization
T-wave
full ventricular repolarization
U wave
further repolarization of the ventricles if present
AV Node
creates a slow delay
Valves: upper right
aortic valve
Valves: upper left
Pulmonary valves
Valves: lower right
triscupid valve
Valves: lower left
Mitrial Valve
