Electricity Topics 1-3 Flashcards
What is a conductor?
Materials that allow changes to move freely
Identify the 3 laws of electric charges
- opposite charges attract each other
- similar charges repel each other
- charge objects attract neutral
What is a superconductors?
These offer near zero resistance to the flow of electrons
What is an ammeter?
Instrument used to measure larger currents
What are the four subsystems?
- load
- conductor
- source
- control
What is a series circuit?
Electrons only travel in one pathway
What is a parallel circuit?
Electrons travel in multiple pathways
What’s an open circuit?
- Electron flow is interrupted (the pathway is broken)
- Electricity will not be able to work
What’s a closed circuit?
- Electrons travel in an unbroken pathway
- Allows electricity to flow in a current
What’s a source? And give an example
Where he electrical energy comes from,
ex. Battery, outlet, generator
What’s a conductor? Give an example
Wire through which electricity flows (pathway)
What’s a control?
Switch which turns devices on or off
What’s a load? Give an example
The item/device that converts the electrical energy into work
Ex. Light bulbs, speakers, motors, ovens
