Electricity And Properties of Matter Flashcards
What are the Series Circuit Rules?
Voltage - Vs = V1 + V2…
Current - Is = I1 = I2…
Resistance - Rt = R1 + R2…
What are the Parallel Circuit Rules?
Voltage - Vs = V1 = V2…
Current - Is = I1 + I2…
Resistance - 1/Rt = 1/R1 + 1/R2…
What is a Capacitor?
Used to store charge. When a capacitor is connected to a battery the voltage across the capacitor cannot exceed the battery voltage.
What is a Thermistor?
As the temperature goes up the resistance goes down. it is a temperature dependant resistor.
What is a Light Dependant Resistor (LDR)
As the light level goes up the resistance goes down
What are the Two types of Transistors?
NPN Transistor - Turns on at 0.7V
MOSSFET Transistor - Turns on at 2V
State the 4 Equations used to find Power
P = E / t
P = V2 / R
P = I x V
P = I2 x R
What is Specific Heat Capacity
Specific heat capacity is the amount of heat required to increase the temperature of a 1kg mass by 1 degree
What is the Equation for Specific Heat Capacity?
Eh = cm x change in temperature
Eh = Heat Energy (J) c = Specific Heat Capacity (J/kgC) m = Mass (kg)
What is Latent Heat?
Heat energy that is taken in or given out by a substance when it changes state is called latent heat
What is the Equation for Latent Heat?
Eh = m x l
Eh = Heat Energy (J) m = Mass (kg) l = Latent Heat (Jkg-1)
Pressure Relationships with Temperature and Volume
Pressure is indirectly proportional to Volume. ( As volume increases pressure decreases)
Pressure us directly proportional to Temperature. ( As temperature increases pressure increases)
