Q

When adding another cell to a battery, or multiple connecting cells, how will the brigjtness of the bulbs change?

A

If you were to remove a cell, all bulbs would go dimmer, if you add another cell, the bulbs will get brighter.

Q

A stdent did an experiment with two strips of polythene. She held the strips together at one end rubbing both ends with a dry cloth. Still holding the top ends together she held up the strips. What movement do we see?

A

The ends both move aprt or repel. When they were rubbed both ends become negatively charged with electrons which become reppeled.

Q

Peter measured the current through each of three similar bulbs in a parallel circuit. He had only one ammeter and he placed it first at A1 then. A2 then A3 to measure the currents.the readings were expected by Peter to be the same but were different, give to reasons why they were different?

A
  1. They had manufacturing differences
  2. Bulbs were different.

Q

Debbie put a paper cup into a glass beaker. She glued a magnet in the bottom of the paper cup. She glued another magnet in the bottom of the beaker. The magnets repelled( because south and south poles were put together).
What two forces act on the paper cup and its contents to keep it in the positions its in?

A

Magnetic force
Gravity.

Q

In a circuit, there is a wire which goes over A bulb . When we turn on this circuit what happens to the bulb? Why?

A

The bulb doesnt go on. This is because electricity always goes through the easiest path so instead of going through Bulb it goes through the wire which skips the bulb.

Q

In a parallel circuitwhat is all equal?

A

The potential difference across each component in a parallel cirxuit is the same potential diffference across the battery.

In summary, the Voltage/Potential difference , is the same everywhere.

Q

Difference between static and current electrictu

A

Static electricity is caused by the accumalation(charge at rest) of charge on the surface of teh body. Current electricity is aused by the movement of charge or electrons.
