Q

what is a series circuit?

A

a circuit where the electricity has only one path that it can travel from one side of the battery to the other. all the components are connected in one loop

Q

what is resistance in a circuit?

A

this where components try to stop the flow of electric current. it is caused by the atoms in the wire getting in the way of the electrons that carry the electric current

Q

what is a parallel circuit?

A

a parallel circuit has branches, so the resistance splits according to the number of branches

Q

differences: series circuit and parallel circuit

A

series:
- if one bulb breaks, the others go off
- adding more bulbs will male them dimmer, because the resistance will increase
- the voltage from the cell or power pack is divided between the components

parallel:

  • the voltage is the same across all branches of the circuit
  • the current splits up when it comes to a branch. the current in a branch adds up to the current in the main part of the circuit

Q

what NOT to do (electrical safety)

A

DONT

  • use main appliances in the bathroom
  • touch switches or sockets with wet hands
  • use appliances with frayed cables
  • overload sockets
  • unplug appliances at the cable
