Electricity Flashcards
What is voltage?
energy per unit charge; an electric force which drives an electric current between two points.
What is the formula for voltage?
V=I x R (Current x Resistance)
How do you work out the the resistance of two or more components after each other across a parallel circuit ?
inverse each component and add them together, then inverse the total of the inversed components., e.g.
two bulbs of 5ohm resistance each:
1/5 + 1/5 = 2/5
2/5^-1= 5/2
therefore total resistance equals 2.5 Ohms
What is the number of Joules in an electron volt?
1.6 x10 ^ -19 J
What is the formula for power?
P = I ^ 2xR ( Current^2 x resistance)
What is the formula for power involving voltage?
P=VxI (voltage x current)
What is resistivity?
A quantification of how strongly an object resists or conducts an electrical current
What is the formula of resistivity?
p= ( R x A ) / L
(resistance x c.s. Area) / length
What is another formula for voltage involving the work done ?
V = W / Q
(work done / charge)
[EXPLAIN WORK DONE?
What is a current?
Rate of flow of electrical charge in a circuit.
[UNSURE, use your own words]
What is the formula for Current?
I = Q / t
charge, measured in number of Coulombs / time
What is resistance measured in?
Ohms, sign is omega
