Electricity Flashcards
What is a series circuit?
It is a circuit where the loads are lined up in a series. If one load breaks, the rest of them do too.
What is a parallel circuit?
It is a circuit where the wire splits off into branches. If a load breaks on it, the rest of them will keep working.
What does an ammeter measure?
It measures the rate of charge flow through an object, measured in Amps or A.
What does a voltmeter measure?
It measures the electricity that is transformed into other forms of energy. It is measured in Volts or V.
What is a conductor?
It is an object with low electrical resistance, letting the electricity travel through it easily.
What is an insulator?
It is an object with high electrical resistance, making it difficult for electricity to travel through it.
What is current electricity?
It is electricity that flows in currents. It is used a lot in everyday life.
What is static electricity?
It is electricity that doesn’t move very much and continuously builds up until it is let free. This type of electricity can be very dangerous.
