Electricity Flashcards
Resistance
The measure of how strongly a wire or other conductor objects to current flowing through it/how strongly it resists the flowing of current.
Ohms
The unit which resistance is measured.
Voltage
The amount of energy in a source. Also the measure of potential electrical energy.
Current
The energy that flows through a circuit.
V (voltage) =
I (current) * R (resistance)
I (current) =
V (voltage) / R (resistance)
R (resistance) =
V (voltage) / I (current)
Volts
The unit in which voltage is measured.
Amps
The unit in which current is measured.
Series Circuit
Circuits with one path for the electricity to follow. This will not work if the circuit is open.
Parallel Circuit
Circuits with branching paths for the electricity to take. There are multiple ways for this circuit to be complete, even if one component fails.
