Electrical System Flashcards
What are the 4 power sources for the Texan?
Starter/generator
Lead acid battery
Aux bat
External power recepticle (GPU)
What side is the Bat Bus?
Left
What side is the Gen Bus?
Right
Where is the hot bat bus CB panel located?
Rear of the engine bay
What is the voltage and amperage of the starter/generator?
28V DC, 300A
Voltage and Ahr rating of the battery
24V DC, 48Ahr
Voltage and Ahr rating of the aux bat
24V DC, 5Ahr
Min voltage for a GPU start
22V
Min voltage for a battery start
23.5V
What is the risk if the battery voltage is below that required for start?
1 - The battery overheats and is damaged upon being charged by the generator due to the large delta
2 - Hot start - lack of voltage might mean the engine turns too slowly during the start so cooling is not adequate for the amount of fuel entering the engine
How is the battery grounded
Connection to the airframe
What rating are the fuses that protect the battery and generator?
Both 130A
What cockpit indications tell you that external power has been connected/disconnected?
Only the rise/drop of the voltage reading, there is no caption
At approximately what N1 does the PMU disconnect the starter?
Approx. 50%, after this it is on standby to be a generator
Why are the Cond Blower and Heat Exchange Blower CBs located on the Hot Gen Bus?
Air con uses a lot of electrical power, so by locating these services on the Hot Gen Bus they are automatically shed should the generator fail, conserving battery power
