What is National Electrical Manufacture’s Association (NEMA)?
Standards for a wide range of motor control equipment
Widely used in United States in motor control applications
What is International Electrotechnical Commission (IES)?
Standards for electrical equipment including motor control devices
Accepted standard in many countries (US accepted to compete in world market)
What is the Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL)?
Independent producing testing/certification organization giving national acceptance
Tests/assesses many devices
Most electrical devices need certification to be used
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)?
US department division of labor
Establishes /enforces rules concerning health/safety of workers in workplace
