Electrical Circuits Flashcards
Define potential difference:
potential difference is the work done per unit positive charge.
Define current:
current is the rate of flow of charge.
State Ohm’s law:
Ohm’s Law states that the current through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference
over a conductor at constant temperature.
Define resistance:
Resistance is a material’s opposition to the flow of electrical current.
Define electrical power:
The electrical power dissipated in a device is equal to the product of the
potential difference across the device and the current flowing through the device.
What is a kilowatt hour?
A kilowatt hour is a unit of energy, and 1 kWh is the amount of energy used when 1
kilowatt of energy is used for 1 hour.
Define EMF
EMF is the total amount of energy supplied per coulomb of charge by the cell.
Define internal resistance:
Internal resistance is the resistance inside a real battery.
