Electrical Flashcards
What happens if a power generating source fails?
Bus ties automatically connect to provide no system degradation
How many networks make up the electrical system? Why?
- Two independent networks
2. Redundancy and fault isolation
What components power up the AC system?
2 - integrated drive generators (IDG) 1 - APU 1 - AC GPU 1 - Inverter 1 - RAT
What components power up the DC system?
1 - DC GPU
2 - NiCAD Batteries, 24V, 27AH
3 - TRUs, 2 for the IDG, 1 for essential (RAT –> AC ESS BUS –> TRU ESS –> DC ESS BUS 3…)
How does the IDG maintain a stable power output?
The IDGs are connected via a constant speed drive (CSD) to the accessory gear box (AGB)
What monitors and controls the IDGs?
Each generator has a Generator Control Unit (GDU)
Can one IDG supply the entire electrical system?
Yes.
What will cause the amber IDG light on the overhead panel to illuminate.
High oil temperature or low oil pressure.
