Electrical Flashcards
What are the main components of the Electrical system in E2-Embraer?
Controls and Indications, AC and DC Systems, Electrical Power distribution and control, external power supply connections.
How is the operation of the Electrical System characterized?
Automatic operation generating, distributing, and managing both AC and DC power.
What components make up the AC system?
- Two integrated drive generators
- One auxiliary power unit generator
- One External AC power receptacle for AC GPU connection
- One ram air turbine
What components make up the DC system?
- Two NICD batteries
- Three transformer rectifier units (TRU)
- One external DC ground power unit (DC GPU)
Where is the electrical system controlled and monitored?
From the Electric panel on the glareshield.
What does the Electric synoptic page illustrate?
Electrical flow lines indicating voltage sensing.
What does the IDG selector knob do in the AUTO position?
Allows automatic operation of the electrical main generation system.
What happens when the IDG selector knob is moved to the OFF position?
The respective generator line contactor opens, isolating the IDG from the AC BUS.
What indicates a fault in the IDG?
The IDG fault indication LED illuminates.
What does the EICAS message IDG 1 (2) OIL indicate?
A high oil temperature or low oil pressure in the IDG.
How is the APU generator operated?
Pushing the APU generator button in allows automatic operation; pushing it out isolates the APU generator.
What are the three positions of the AC BUS TIES selector?
- 1 OPEN
- AUTO
- 2 OPEN
What does the AVAIL light indicate on the AC GPU button?
The AC GPU is connected to the airplane and power quality requirements are satisfied.
What does the IN USE light indicate on the AC GPU button?
The AC GPU is powering the airplane AC electrical system.
What does the DC GPU supply power to?
The APU START BUS APU External Power Receptacle (28 VDC).
What happens when the TRU essential switch is in the OFF position?
It isolates the TRU ESS from the DC ESS BUS 3.
What do the TRU icons display?
Their respective outputs (voltage and amperage).
What happens to the battery icons when the batteries are off?
They appear in white.
What is the function of the Ram Air Turbine (RAT)?
It serves as an emergency AC electrical device.
When is the RAT automatically deployed?
When IDG 1 and IDG 2 fail and the APU generator is not available.
What is the minimum deployment speed for the RAT?
150 knots.
What is the purpose of the batteries during RAT deployment?
To provide backup power to the DC essential BUSES.
What is the significance of the DC BUS TIES switch?
It allows automatic operation of the electrical system in the auto position.
What happens if the batteries are the only power source on ground for more than 5 minutes?
A horn sounds to alert ground personnel.
