electric dipole Flashcards
1
Q
what is electric dipole even
A
A combination of two charges +q and −q separated
by a small distance d constitutes an electric dipole. The electric dipole moment of this combination is defined as a vector
p→= qd→ (arrows on top to show vector)
where d→
is the vector joining the negative charge to
the positive charge. The line along the direction of the
dipole moment is called the axis of the dipole.
