Electric and Magnetic Fields Flashcards
1
Q
What is faraday’s law?
A
The EMF induced is proportional to the rate of change of flux linkage through the wire
2
Q
What is Lenz’s law?
A
The polarity of an induced emf is such that it produces a current who’s magnetic field opposes the change which produces it.
3
Q
How does an alternating current produce an emf?
A
The alternating current produces a magnetic field in the wire, this wire induces a nearby conductor in the same field as the wire, which induces a magnetic field in that wire. This experiences a change of rate of flux linkage which therefore induces an emf.
