Q

2 factors that prevent candidates from appealing to centrists

A
  1. Tail becomes disillusioned
    - These people do not vote.
    - A 3rd party candidate takes the tail.
  2. A candidate becomes tied to the tail
    - Primaries can shape a candidate’s image because he is appealing to the median voter in his half.
    - The opponent brands you with the image of the extreme.
